RE: Where do you store your wine?

I noticed that most of the responses are from people whose RV is bigger than a B. We like the way the "wine cube" from Target fits in our small refrigerator. However, we seldom pass a winery without stopping. Some bottles are purchased as gifts or for a special occasion and therefore may travel with us for weeks. With the twin bed arrangement in our B, we have space between the mattress and the wall to safely store several bottles. The joke is that we can only buy what we are willing to sleep with.

RE: Electronically Reclining Split Sofa/Bed

You can add my name to the list who would prefer twin reclining beds. However I would also prefer the reclining mechanism to be manual or with manual release to use if (when) the plastic gear in the electric mechanism fails.

RE: First (annual?) B Out West Social - PIZZA for anyone else?

Good news for the standby list. We kept postponing our planned departure date for the Moab Out West Social due to other commitments. Now two more complications have made us decide to cancel our reservations at Moab.
One is a construction project that is behind schedule. The other is Sally's weakness for a hungry cat. About 3 weeks ago a young cat came begging and after being fed kept coming back. After determining that he had apparently been abandoned we adopted him. He has not yet been in the motorhome. We are still trying to teach him normal cat skills --- like playing without drawing blood. He will probably be a good traveling companion eventually, but he and I are not ready yet.

RE: replacement macerator pump hose on Roadtrek

I use 1 inch clear vinyl tubing for my sewer solution discharge line so that I can see when it has been flushed clean. You can buy that at most any hardware store.

HUMMMM Bee stalking sounds like a great idea :B I currently have a large Bee handpuppet on the dash of Artie!
Hummm more bees to come? Margaret (ashguy) have you been to Tuesday morning to purchase a snatcho prize lately????
I guess I better get busy and find a great snatcho prize!!!
We have a few more things to do to Artie before we leave! The one I dread the most is opening, cleaning and oiling the awning. :R

RE: Wheelbase question

Wheelbase is only part of the equation. Our 127 inch Dodge had a lot longer turning radius than our current 139 inch Chevy. The 155 inch Sprinter has a turning radius about the same as a 138 inch Ford. The old Dodge was frustrating in a parking lot because the steering angle was very limited. However it was never noticed on the road.
I think any true B will handle the curves, but I would love to have the advantages of Handbasket's Tiger when going down those steep grades.

RE: Am I a young guy?

I had a Dodge van custom converted to MH use when I was 26 (a looong time ago). When I was nearing the time that I could retire I knew that a more modern version of that first van conversion was what I wanted. Enjoy the convenience even if only using it for short trips.

RE: RV.net 6th Annual Class B Rally. Voting Results Are In!

Any chance of tweeking the rules in future years to allow the possibility of a western site? I think a "straight-up" vote is always going to favor an Eastern locale. Due to time pressures, it's too late in the process for changes for B6 - but I would like the group to consider the merits of alternating venues - odd number years an eastern locale, even number years a western locale.
The Missouri nomination (thanks Asheguy & ibthebest) is a central locale - so that is another possible solution.
Else, I suspect that many western folks either will never participate, or will form a different event.
Obviously, we will need to get some western locales nominated for this too work - but in a straight up vote - I'm not sure I'd bother to do the work to nominate a site.
Maybe I'll start a separate thread to ask the question of the forum members.
Shane
Some time ago I tried to generate some interest in a Western Class B Rally each fall since the Spring Rally will probably continue to be in the east or midwest. Couldn't find anyone willing to organize it. I think most were intimidated by the formality of the official B rally and/or did not want to have to solicit sponsors. (I hated that part, too.)
It doesn't have to be a second "official B Rally". Moab could be the beginning of a fall tradition. If you look on the "Rallys" page, you will find more rallys than you could possibly attend. So don't worry about the date of a proposed mini-rally in California conflicting with one on the East Coast. You can float the idea and ask for suggestions or you can just decide where you will be and when, then invite others to join you.
If I understand Rodger correctly, the proposed mini-rally or BEE Social can be announced on CVC with a link to the Rallys forum.

RE: Interest in a Rally

And you can come through the Arkansas Ozarks getting there! Scenic and a chance to sample our culture too, at Mountain View's Ozarks Folk Center and on the square downtown where the music is free.
See Arkansas State Parks web site (www.arkansasstateparks.com) for details.
Hey Vern,
I came through Mountain View at the wrong time for the music, but loved the area and thought about it for a future "mini-rally" or "B
Social". Glad to have a local contact. Maybe in the fall of next year or the following year?

RE: RV.net Annual B Rally Organizing Process

After reading the B6 thread, I decided it was time to do an update on B3 and B4.
B3 was organized in Branson, because no one stepped up to organize the third rally. A group of Bees were not willing to let the B rally dissappear, so we did it. The location was decided by Ron and I because it was in the "middle" and we had checked out the area campgrounds. The BPT (b planning team) assisted.
It ended up being Memorial Day weekend, because we waited so late to make reservations. The dates were not anyone's choice, but it was all that was available.
Our sponsor was Van City. Ray picked up the tab for all meals and brought various B's for us to look at. He also did on the spot repairs on any brand B he represented.
The location was in the middle of the US and the weather was hot and it was a bad date, but those in attendance still enjoyed it. We had a huge conference center to gather in when it was hot and a great pool to get cool and wet!
B 4 was organized per the guidelines now in place. David and Margaret (ashguy) made B4 happen!
B 3 was the only B Rally that has not followed the guidelines.. only because we did it to keep the rally from dying.
The B Rally's can be a simple or as much work as you want to put into it! Frankly calling Van City and asking Ray to sponsor all was very easy. Either I received a yes or a no! Prizes and goodies are fun, but not necessary.
If I remember correctly... the main reason for getting together was to talk and make friends among those on the CVC forum.

RE: BEE Social in Niobrara, NE NE

Some of our Nebraska Bee Socialites asked about the little green Balsam Fir Sachet which was in the Bee bag. I finally found my information card, which states balsam has been known to assist asthma patients breathe easier. I wonder if this means it will help ease snoring.:E Hummmm, I am sure none of us who were at the NENE Bee Social snore, but all of us like to breathe easier!:B The information also says it has been known to help sleeping and is an old remedy for headaches!
We are hoping it does work. It smells wonderful. Thanks Tommie and Marilyn for contributing the balsam sachet to the Bee Bags.
Good luck with your little green balsam fir sachet, may snoring and headaches cease and you sleep restfully.

RE: Is Downsizing really do-able?

When we bought our current B, it was considered temporary until we could find something better ---- we are still looking for something better.
We would like to have more room so that we could invite friends along, but have not found anything so great that it would be worth giving up the convenience of a motorhome that can be parked almost anywhere.
A class A towing a small car is a good option for people who park in one spot for a while, do their tourist thing by car and return to their motorhome every evening. Our style of Class B traveling involves many unplanned side trips, lunch at a quaint little cafe, visiting friends and relatives, etc. and moving on down the road in our little cocoon always having our bathroom, toothbrush and bed with us.

RE: Winnebago net profit falls 73% in 1st quarter

A few weeks ago the Winnebago factory in Forrest City had about 800 Sprinter cutaway chassis on site. They had stocked up on them when they had the opportunity because they believe the small Sprinter based class C is the coming trend.
I'm still waiting for the perfect small motorhome. I would like to see some really innovative space utilization replace the "bigger is better" philosophy. Winnebago seems to be heading in that direction, but still has a ways to go.
